The B.Sc. in Cardiac Pulmonary and Perfusion Care Technology prepares students to become highly skilled professionals in cardiac surgical care. Perfusionists play a critical role in the cardiothoracic surgical team by operating and monitoring the heart-lung machine during open-heart surgeries. This machine temporarily takes over the functions of the heart and lungs, ensuring the patient’s circulatory and respiratory needs are maintained throughout the procedure.
